Abstract: Facility Layout Design (FLD) problems are
concerned with the arrangement of a number of facilities in a given space to
satisfy an objective function; for example, minimizing total interaction. Data
envelopment analysis (DEA) has been used in order to extract the necessary
information for selection the optimal layout and arrangement of a number of
facilities. In order to eliminate the inconsistency caused by using different
frontier facets to calculate efficiency, common set of weights' DEA models have
been developed, under which a group of DMUs can be ranked for a specific
period.A new approach to determine the optimal distribution of process
facilities based on the common set of weights DEA model is presented in this
paper.
