Abstract: Background: There are different methods for screening and diagnosis of mental
disorders. But those test's results are misclassified. This study evaluated the
accuracy of the results of GHQ-28 test, BSI and MMPI
questionnaires, and it used of clinical for screening and comparing of the
results. Material and methods: This study was conducted on students
of kashan university of medical science in 2011-12. Measurement instruments
were GHQ-28, BSI and MMPI questionnaires. Each student's scores were calculated
for all three of questionnaires, and students were classified, then 150
students were selected from vulnerable and healthy ones and clinical
psychologist interviewed by CIDI. Data analyzed by Roc curve and
participants were divided to positive and negative groups, in next step, for
comparing of the frequency of positive cases in the three test, McNemar's test was used.
Standard scores (t & z) and paired t test were used for comparing of
between test's scores. Also, spearman coefficient correlations were
calculated. Result: Clinical psychologist interviewed to 145
individuals of 983 participants (57.2% were normal). Based on clinical
diagnosis, sensitivity and specificity for GHQ-28 was 69.4%, 68.7%, for BSI was
75.8%, 69.9% and for MMPI was 75.8%, 67.5% respectively. According to GHQ-28,
BSI and MMPI tests, respectively, 37.9%, 41.1% and 44.8% of cases was suspected
to having mental disorders, corrected classification of GHQ-28 with BSI was 73%
and GHQ-28 with MMPI was 71.4% and MMPI with BSI was 71.7%. Conclusion:
Power of predictability of tests were relatively high and MMPI test had the
highest sensitivity and specificity .Overall, this study showed there are a
relatively high correlation between the three rests in the diagnosis of mental
heath.
