In 1960 . Harken designed the first ball – valves prosthesis for use in the subcoronary position .The Harken valve had a light weight metal cage instead of an acrylic plastic housing and was placed in the natural position .
Starr – Edwards ball valve
Starr – Edwards valves have easily avaliable opening and classing sounds . Starr – Edwards ball valve consists one piece of brightly polished stellite and has a knitted teflon fabric fixation , besides that the puppet’s ball is made of a silicone rubber .
St. jude valve
St. jude valve is a bileaflet prosthesis and it can be used in the aortic , mitral or tricuspid position .(126)
Carpenter – Edwards porcine valve
The carpenter – Edwards pericardial valve consists of three pieces of pericardium mounted completely within the wire stent to reduce potential abrasion between the dacron- covered frame and the leaflets .(113)
Beall –surgitool valve
The Beall – surgitool valve has not been used in the aortic position, two series of the Beall valve have been manufactured : the 103/104 series has teflon disc and curved struts while the 105/106 Series has a pyrolytic earbon disc and straigh sruts .
Eccentric monocuspid valves : Bjork – shiley valve
The Bjork – Shiley prosthesis is the most common type of tilting disc valve design , and it can be used in the aortic, mitral or tricuspid position .(126)
