Knitted geotextile
Knitted geotextiles
At present, simple knitting structures have no apparent applications as geotextiles, as they tend to suffer extensive elongation under tension, (18) but in some specific end uses, such as biodegradable geotextiles, the knitting technique can be used in conjunction with weaving. (47)
Warp knitted fabrics have gained increasing importance in geotextiles. This process involves laying high strength multifilament yarns into an extensible knitted base, which acts as a carrier or substrate for the high strength component . The end result is fabric which exhibits high strength and low elongation in the longitudinal ( warp) direction
