Venous thrombosis
Venous thrombosis
Occlusion of veins by thrombosis is very common ,it leads to considerable morbidity and risk of serious illness or death through pulmonary embolism (76) The thrombosis composed principally of platelets and fibrin. Red cells become interspersed with fibrin and thrombus tends to propagate in the direction of blood flow. (75)
Arteries
Arteries are thick – walled blood vessels which carry blood away from the heart either to the lungs or the rest of the body . The blood is forced along the arteries under such high pressure from the heart that the artery walls need to be strong and elastic.(68) The normal artery has three basic layers the inner layer is a thin coat of endothelial cells for extreme smoothness , The bulk of the artery is made up of the middle coat or media, consisting of muscular and fibrous tissues, The outer coat or adventitia, carries the arterioles that supply the artery wall with blood. (69) The arteries nearest to the heart are the largest the smaller arteries branch further into arterioles. (70)
