Microprocessor



Identify/explain the operation of the components of a typical microprocessor: the role of the AL
registers, stack and the use of interrupts 
Understand the issues and tradeoffs involved in the design of the various components  and be able
to evaluate different designs for their suitability to different tasks Appreciate the link between
the compiler, linker, assembler, emulator and debugger, and understand their roles in the development 
of software for microprocessor systems, by using the 8086 Microprocessor 
Understand the implementation of integer and floating point operations using binary arithmetic operation
Explain the operations of peripherals typically used interfacing microprocessors: A/D converters, 
D/A converters, Timer etc Gain hands-on experience in interfacing peripherals to the 8086 microprocessor
