Associate Prof. of Environmental Engineering

(Laboratories in civil Engineering Department )

Structures and Concrete Lab

This lab. Plays a major role in serving the academic programs and research for both the academic staff and students of civil Engineering Department. It is also used for applying experimental tests for the construction materials for several interested administrations from both the governmental and private sectors.

The role of this lab. Can be summarized in achieving practical experiments accompanied with theoretical courses such as: (Structures, Properties and strength of materials, reinforced concrete design and practical works in graduation projects of undergraduate students) beside achieving experiments related to academic staff researches and some other special experiments related to community service studies.

  Surveying Lab

It was supported by modern surveying equipment such as the length measuring tools, the digital Theodolite devices, the total station, global positioning system devices (GPS), and the global coordinate systems.

Students are trained to use these devices and to produce detailed maps of various types like topographic maps to convert various types of coordinates, various survey procedures, roadway curves planning, alignment projects at field, monitoring the deformations and collapse of structures. It is also used for various surveying procedures, land dividing needed by various community administrations which include private companies, governmental administrations and others.

  Soil Mechanics and Foundation Lab

This lab includes all equipment needed for experiments for both academic staff and students in this aspect which includes researches on soil problems, calculation of soil bearing capacity, suggestion of suitable types of foundation. It participates also in solving soil problems in KSA, carrying out the experimental tests needed for analysis and study of soil for both the private and governmental sectors.

 Environmental Engineering Lab

It is considered one of the most important labs. in Civil Engineering Department. In addition to training students of department to carry out the special experiments related to water quality, this laboratory Participates in enriching researches of academic staff in addition to graduation projects of undergraduate students.

This lab contains various devices and some tools for contamination of water and soil measurements. It contains also chemical generators needed. This lab may participate in community service through carrying out tests for various water samples according to standard methods. It is also qualified to a large number of physical, chemical and biological experiments on water in environmental engineering like detecting degree of water hardness, turbidity, and concentration of soluble salts in water. pH, residual free chlorine, concentration of soluble and suspended solid materials and others.

Highway Engineering and Asphalt Lab

This lab is prepared to carry out practical experiments on asphalt and other roadway materials needed for training students on various measurements which is compatible with curriculum of academic courses of transportation engineering and asphalt. It plays important role in producing engineering consultations in this aspect for the surrounding community.

Hydraulics and Water Resources Lab

This lab was prepared with integrated equipment to achieve its goal in the best way through carrying out the practical experiments by students that services the academic courses in the aspect of water engineering which includes (hydraulics, water structures, hydrology and groundwater studies) and carrying out the future research and studies in water engineering.

Besides, the Hydraulics laboratory Contributes in community service by introducing consultations, carrying out various water studies, and practical experiments for the allowable water pressure inside the pipes and valves. This lab. is supplied with various practical experiments to teach students about such as head loss in pipelines experiment, flow in open channels experiment, calculation of discharge in both pipelines and open channels  experiment.

This lab. can also achieve also some practical experiments of some liquids properties such as viscosity, density, surface tension, capillary, operation of pumps at serious or parallel. Also, the laboratory will be equipped with experiments for rainfall simulation and surface runoff, water content in soil, seepage and infiltration.

Mining Engineering

Mining engineering is an engineering discipline that involves practice, theory, science, technology, and the application of extracting and processing minerals from a naturally occurring environment. Mining engineering also includes processing minerals for additional value.

Environmental Engineering

Environmental engineers are the technical professionals who identify and design solutions for    environmental problems. Environmental engineers provide safe drinking water, treat and properly dispose of wastes, maintain air quality, control water pollution, and remediate sites contaminated due to spills or improper disposal of hazardous substances. They monitor the quality of the air, water, and land. And, they develop new and improved means to protect the environment.
