  1. To introduce the students to the definition of literary criticism and literary critic
  2. To familiarize the students with different approaches of literary criticism
  3. To trace the philosophical and critical development of Western thought in its particular relation to “Art”.
  4. To survey the history of literary criticism from the Greeks to the end of the 18th century
